bMOTION FAQ

What are the main differences between the bMOTION Light and bMOTION Pro?

The bMOTION Light is a light-weighted full body harness for fall arrest applications. It has no waist belt and no gear loops on the waist.

The bMOTION Pro is a full body harness for fall arrest applications and has a waist belt with comfortable padding including 2 lateral side D-rings. This d-rings are foldable (in case they are not needed, the climber can fold them back) and used for restraint systems or work positioning systems. It has 3 gear loops and 4 tool bag rings on the waistbelt to store gear and clip in tool bags.

What is the smart color coding?

Green = Life support!

Dorsal and sternal green rings are for fall arrest situation:
Every fall arrest system (lanyard with shockabsorber, guided type fall arrester on a flexible or rigid guide line or self-retracting lifelines) MUST be attached to the dorsal or sternal eyelet!

Lateral green D-rings (only on bMOTION Pro) are for restraint systems or work positioning systems:
Attention! No fall arrest function!
These attachment points are just used for restraining or positioning the climber to the work site. In case of a fall hazard a separate fall arrest system MUST be used and attached to the dorsal or sternal green eyelet!

Red = NO PPE!

Red rings and loops are just used for gear attachment and is rated with very low breaking strength (see below).

NEVER ATTACH YOR FALL ARREST SYSTEM TO A RED RING OR LOOP!

What is the life span of the bMOTION Light and Pro?

The total lifetime of bMOTION is 10 years from the date of manufacture.

Do you have the different detailed sizes and load for each treeMOTION sizes?

What is the max. user weight of the bMOTION Light and Pro?

It is 150 kg / 330 lbs including tools, gears and all other equipment on bMOTION Light & Pro

What is the breaking strength of the lanyard parking loops?

It is 5 kg / 11 lbs on each loop

What is the max. load on the red gear loops?

It is 10 kg / 22 lbs on each loop

What is the max. load on the steel tool bag rings?

It is 10 kg / 22 lbs on each ring

What are the certifications of the bMOTION Light and Pro?
  • EN361:2002 (European Standard for fall arrest harnesses)
  • EN358:2018 (European Standard for harnesses for work positioning and restraint) - Just for bMOTION Pro
  • ANSI Z359.11-2021 (American Safety Requirements for Full Body Harnesses)

What is the main purpose of the bMOTION harnesses?

The initial idea and the development is for the tree care industry. The purpose is for climbers, who are working in mobile elevating work plattforms. In many countries it’s mandatory to use a full body harness in these applications. Please check your national regulations for more information!

Are the bMOTION harnesses just for mobile elevating working plattforms?

No, the bMOTION harnesses can be used for each working at height application, where a full body harness is needed

How does the Smartlock-Buckle work?

Closing the buckle:
Push the parts of the buckle together until you hear a “CLICK” noise. Check proper locking/functioning of the buckle (buckle halves freely movable inside each other, small gap between buckle halves; pulling at both buckle halves). The lock symbol must be clearly visible in the little window.

Opening the buckle:
1. Push buckle halves together.
2. Simultaneously press both unlocking buttons towards.
3. Pull parts of the buckle apart.

How do I put on the bMOTION harnesses?

  1. Put it on like a jacket
  2. Feed the lock of the Smartlock buckle the front ring
  3. Close the Smartlock buckle
  4. Close the Smartlock buckle in the waistbelt (only bMOTION Pro)
  5. Close the Smartlock buckle in the leg loops

How do I adjust the harness?

The sternal fall arrest eyelet is located in the height of the breast bone and can be identified with the label “A”. The dorsal fall arrest eyelet is located on the back between the bladebones and can be identified with the label “A”. Only on bMOTION Pro: The 2 side D-rings for restraint and work positioning are located on the left and right side of the waist belt. The D-rings are foldable.
Adjust the webbing to fit very neat to the body.
Make a test with your flat hand:
The flat hand must fit between the webbing and your body. (Test it on the leg loops and on the waist belt).
If you can make a fist under the harness, then it’s to loose -> tighten it up!

What are the fall indicators used for?

The harness has a fall indicator next to the dorsal and sternal fall arrest attachment ring.
If it is broken and shows the red warning label, then immediatly remove the harness from use.
