Start & End

The cycle starts with responsibility – and never ends.

Strap made out of strap – for tomorrow already today. Our products can be returned at the end of their lifecycle. True circular economy – strapping made from strapping. What begins as strapping returns to us as a valuable raw material, and from it we create the very best: high-quality strapping from Teufelberger! When all the pieces work together, the circle closes – and opens up new advantages. Again and again. For the environment. For everyone.

Packaging & Shipping

Efficient packaging – sustainable shipping.

We think strapping differently – and circular. Tested in our Strapping Center, our high-performance strapping secures the most advanced packaging solutions.

The ideal strap – no matter the application.

But we go further – beyond manufacturing and selling our products.

Thanks to better.collect, used strapping doesn’t end up as waste, but returns to us as a valuable raw material.

  • Strapping made out of strapping

  • From old to new

  • High performance products though differently

Collecting & Compressing

No more bulky packaging waste.

Saving you storage space, time and effort.

Strapping can take up valuable storage space when left as single straps. Cut into smaller pieces or compressed into bales, they become extremely space-saving and economical. Using a strap shredder or a strapping press makes the process quick and easy. The straps are then sorted by material (PP or PET) and collected in bales or big bags.

  • Volume reduction through compression

  • Clean separation for high-quality recycling

  • Collection in BigBags or pressed to bales

Pickup

We pick it up – you contribute to the circular economy.

Simple, reliable, and efficient: pickup is part of our full-service system.

As part of the better.collect cycle, we take care of transporting the shredded or compressed strapping. Pickup is handled either directly or through our growing partner network.

We always ensure full truckloads to make collection and transport as environmentally friendly as possible!

  • Flexible pickup scheduling

  • Regional logistics partners

Recycling & Reuse

From old to new – real circular economy in action.

Design for Recycling from the beginning. Collected materials are recycled and reused in new products.

The material is processed and washed by our recycling partner. Strapping is perfectly suited for recycling: thanks to its material composition, it qualifies as a monomaterial. Both PET and PP strapping are 100% recyclable! This material becomes a new raw resource and can be reused at our Wels site to produce high-quality strapping once again.

  • Conserving valuable resources

  • High-quality recycling

  • Reuse in our own product portfolio

better.collect in numbers

Let’s think in circles – together.

How can better.collect look like?

Find here a real success story

  • The customer wanted to collect exclusively PET strapping. In the first discussion we always ask for the possibilities: whether to collect exclusively PET straps, exclusively PP straps, or a mix of materials.

  • Together we estimate the approximate quantity per month / per year, what can be collected and in what time frame.

  • Then we figure out the best transport route. The costs of transport is covered by Teufelberger. In this case the transport route of 800 km costs us ~ 1.000 € per delivery.

  • Once everything is set up correctly we can discuss a refund for the material. We talk about ~ 300€/to for clean PET strapping without any incorrect items such as bottles, cans, cardboards paper etc.

  • To cover the transport costs, we start pick-up min. 3.5 tons of collected materials, everything above this amount can start refunding the material.

  • For material mixtures of PET and PP, we cannot grant a refund, as an additional processing step is required and usually some amount is lost.

CO₂ Reduction

Reducing CO₂ with better.collect.

Each ton of collected PET strapping saves 1,759 kg of CO₂ – a measurable impact.

Our better.collect system proves how circular economy contributes to climate protection. According to an independent study by C7 Consult, recycling PET strapping significantly reduces emissions.

  • 1,759 kg CO₂ saved per ton of PET strapping

  • Verified by C7 Consult

  • Supports corporate climate goals

  • Transparent documentation via recycling certificates

better.answers – questions you always wanted to ask!

We leave no wishes or questions unanswered. Tomorrow's solutions arise from mutual exchange. Today.

better.collect is a return system for used strapping. You shred the strapping waste using a shredder or compress it into bales using a press. We organize the collection, recycling, and reintegration of the material into new strapping production.

Currently, better.collect focuses mainly on PET strapping, but PP strapping can also be collected and separated. So please let us know if you exclusively collect PET or exclusively PP or a material mix.

Typically, PET strapping is green or black, while PP strapping is white or blue. However, there are exceptions (e.g., colored PET or black PP). A simple test is the sink-float method: PET sinks in water, PP floats.

The material must be sorted by type (PP or PET) and free from contaminants.

What collection and shredding methods does better.collect offer?

There are two main options:

1. Shredded pieces collected in big bags

2. Compressed to bales

Depending on the country. better.collect currently focuses on Germany, Austria and Switzerland, France, Netherlands and Spain. Our partners in transport or waste collection pick up the collected strapping on demand. The material should be prepared on pallets in big bags or compressed bales.

You can use your own big bags if available. We also provide reusable big bags free of charge for shredded strapping. We are currently working on offering suitable sacks for compressed bales.

In order to find the best possible solution, we discuss your personal situation including amount and pick-up schedule in a personal conversation.

We recommend collecting as much material as possible before scheduling a pickup to maximize efficiency.

Yes! Loose strapping takes up space and is time-consuming to handle. Shredding or compressing and collecting in big bags saves money, resources, and storage space.

Sorting by material type saves costs and resources and simplifies the recycling process. Mixed plastics are harder and more expensive to separate later and can cause issues during production. Clean separation is essential, especially for plastics.
