Proper storage of plastic strapping: why it matters
Plastic strapping is designed to deliver reliable performance in demanding transport and logistics applications. To ensure that performance remains consistent throughout the product's lifecycle, proper storage and handling are essential.
Especially during the summer months, high temperatures and direct sunlight can affect plastic materials. Extended exposure to heat may lead to changes in the strapping, including a natural shrinkage effect on the outer layers of the coil. In addition, excessive UV exposure may influence the physical properties of the material over time.

Recommended storage conditions
To maintain optimum product quality and performance, we recommend:
Storing strapping in a dry, covered area away from direct sunlight.
Avoiding prolonged exposure to high temperatures. The recommended maximum storage temperature is 50°C (122°F).
Protecting products stored outdoors with suitable pallet covers or protective sheeting whenever outdoor storage cannot be avoided
Inspecting deliveries upon receipt and reporting any irregularities immediately.
Understanding sun shrinkage
When plastic strapping is exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods, the outer layers of the coil may heat up more intensely than the inner layers. As temperatures fluctuate, this can create tension within the coil and cause localized deformation or "sun shrinkage."
While this phenomenon is primarily related to storage conditions, it can be minimized through proper handling and storage practices.
