Award for a successful master thesis

A project implemented within our company has been recognized with the INNOVATIONaward FH Wels 2026.

Doris Bernroider achieved 1st place in the category Automation and Mechatronics.
In her master’s thesis, she developed a controlled braking module for steel rope production, enabling more precise and automated manufacturing while reducing downtime.

The project was developed during her time at Teufelberger-Redaelli from August 2023 to August 2025. Close collaboration with the Industrial Engineering team around Thomas Neumayr, as well as with colleagues from production, played a key role. The intensive phase of the master’s thesis took place in the first half of 2025.

The idea for the topic emerged directly from practical experience: initial impressions at a career fair and a tour of the rope production facility sparked a strong interest in the manufacturing process and the machines involved.

The objective of the work was to develop an automated braking module to regulate strand tension forces in stranding machines. As these forces change continuously during production, a system was designed and a first prototype implemented to ensure consistent conditions and stable production processes.

The thesis was fully developed and successfully implemented within our company – making it even more rewarding to see this project now receive external recognition.

We are proud that this project has received such recognition and see it as further proof of the importance of close collaboration between practical application and development.
