For us, an apprenticeship at Teufelberger is not only about learning a profession but also about family & camaraderie. Since we train fewer than 20 apprentices per year, we are able to address individual concerns and needs. What’s more, our apprentices also engage in a lot of activities together, handle their own projects, and grow into a real team.
1. Apprenticeship to become an Industrial Clerk
From raw materials purchasing to logistics and accounting and on to human resources and marketing. As an industrial clerk, you prepare the ground for our production to run smoothly and for our products to be shipped out to places around the world.

What you will learn at Teufelberger as an apprentice industrial clerk
As an industrial clerk, you will be working in accounting, transport logistics, and purchasing. You will also be supporting colleagues in other departments such as marketing and human resources.
Your specific tasks include:
In shipping logistics, your tasks include, e.g., invoicing, storing and retrieving pallets, and communicating with colleagues from production planning and the order team. Whenever possible, you will be spending time in the high-bay warehouse in order to see and get acquainted with the products that we make. You will also get to do some order picking on your own, that is, find the goods in the warehouse, package them, and dispatch them to places around the globe. Your general tasks also include mail distribution, customer and supplier reception, and telephone switchboard duties.

2. Apprenticeship to become an Application Developer
Develop applications, and provide IT support. Become part of an international 30-person IT team. This way, you will be creating added value for Teufelberger.

Following extensive training, you will handle small application projects and help provide support to employees at our IT Service Desk. In doing so, you will be cooperating closely with our specialists, from identifying the relevant requirements to providing training to the users.
Your specific tasks include:

- Preparing training documentation
- Specifying and implementing smaller programming work packages
- Providing support within the scope of projects (e.g., requirement analyses or data migrations)

Provide support in the areas of hardware, software, networks, and IT security. Become an IT pro, and support your colleagues with your knowledge and skills. Communication-rich and variety-packed, this job involves lots of contact with all of Teufelberger’s employees around the globe.

What you will learn at Teufelberger as an apprentice information technologist
Starting at the Service Desk, you will be dealing with the tickets and requests of our employees to ensure that their PCs, software programs and cell phones work smoothly. Step by step, you will get acquainted with the existing systems and start to handle small tasks. In your own test environment, you will have the opportunity to test services and features, independently of the production systems, and thus consolidate your knowledge and expertise - of course, always with the support of the whole team.

4. Apprenticeship to become a Plastics Process Technologist
As a plastics process technologist, you will produce strapping for Teufelberger, using plastic materials as raw materials. You will be operating manufacturing machinery and gaining further insights into research and development.

What you learn at Teufelberger as an apprentice plastics process technologist
You will be learning on the job and spending a large part of your apprenticeship in manufacturing, at the machines where we produce our strapping. There, you will, step by step, become familiar with all the factors to be considered in making high-quality products. Waste separation, the recycling of plastic materials, and environmental protection are also topics that will be addressed. Besides, you will gain insights into our quality management, our research and development, and our product management.
Your specific tasks include:
- Learning the manufacturing process for the production of plastic strapping, step by step
- Quality control of our products (strapping to secure loads, parcels, etc.)
- Startup and setup work at the extrusion plants
- Gaining insights into research projects and the development of new and improved products
- Participating in maintenance and servicing work as well as operating the facilities and troubleshooting
- Manual processing of plastics

What is the difference between a plastics process technologist and a plastics technician?
The training period to become a plastics process technologist is three years, while the training to become a plastics technician takes four years. In the fourth year of your training, you will be dealing in depth with the production of plastic products. At Teufelberger, we start out with the plastics process technologist apprenticeship. If your performance is outstanding and your commitment is top, it will, of course, be possible for you to switch to plastics technician in the third year of your apprenticeship. Thus, you will complete your apprenticeship after four years and start as a fully qualified professional at Teufelberger.Will I be involved in everyday operations right from the start?
Right from the second day! The first day will be your welcoming day, which you will be spending together with all of our other new apprentices. You will be given a personal welcome by the company management, receive a first introduction to our products and our workplace safety programs, and get to know your new colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere. On the following day, your proper training will begin. You will be involved in everyday operations and be given the chance to take on responsibility.How large is the team?
Depending on the apprenticeship year, we have about 3-7 apprentices. Each team for a shift consists of 10-12 colleagues.Will some of my colleagues be apprentices?

6. Apprenticeship to become an Electrical Technician
Our electrical technicians make sure that all our manufacturing facilities are working smoothly and that any problems are resolved promptly. Apart from the day-to-day work in this service department, there are also many projects awaiting you.

What you learn at Teufelberger as an apprentice electrical technician
You will accompany your colleagues in their everyday work activities and, in doing so, be learning on the job how to troubleshoot equipment issues. There is also a practice panel for various exercises related to electrical systems, and, if you get those right, you’ll soon be given the opportunity to test your skills on actual production facilities – with the support of a colleague, of course.
Your help will also be needed in projects, e.g., when installing a distribution cabinet for a winder that is being upgraded to a new version. If you prove yourself, you will also be assigned your own projects.
Your specific tasks include:
- Step-by-step familiarization with our (switching) systems and production facilities
- Planning, assembly, installation, and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment and systems
- Rectifying of faults and malfunctions in electrical and electronic systems

Will I be involved in everyday operations right from the start?
Yes – but in an observational role. At the beginning, you will be accompanying colleagues. You will watch, ask questions, and learn to understand the fundamental processes. Working as an electrical technican requires a great deal of logical thinking, a high level of precision in your actions, and special technical training which you will get in the course of your basic training at Teufelberger and at partner companies. Depending on your skills and abilities, you will gradually be assigned your own tasks in our day-to-day operations.How large is the team?
Our (currently) four electricians are part of the Maintenance Team which includes 20 persons altogether.Will some of my colleagues be apprentices?
No, not in the team of electricians. We only train one apprentice electrician every three years. On the upside, by pursuing this approach, the team has more time for you and your training. However, in the course of various projects and apprentice training modules, you will also get the chance to interact with our other apprentices.Who are my trainers?
We have one training manager for all locations. In the team of electricians, one trainer serves as your go-to person.Which vocational school will I be attending?
You will attend a vocational school in Gmunden for 3 10-week blocks and 1 5-week block.What will my working hours be like?

7. Apprenticeship to become a Metal Technician – with a focus on mechanical engineering
Forging, welding, drilling, soldering, bending, and filing. When training as a metal technician, with a special focus on mechanical engineering, you need to have strong manual dexterity! You will make sure that the manufacturing machines continue to work smoothly and, if necessary, you will also modify or rebuild them.

What you learn at Teufelberger as an apprentice metal technician with a special focus on mechanical engineering
At first, you will undergo basic training in filing and drilling. Therefore, you should bring good manual dexterity to the table. You will also be working on lathes and milling machines where you will shape your first workpieces. In this context, it will be helpful if reading technical drawings comes easy to you. Step by step, you will get a good feel for the material. When machine malfunctions need to be rectified or scheduled modifications need to be carried out, you will accompany an experienced fitter. Every day is different, and you will always learn something new. Depending on your skills and interests, you will be assigned tasks which you perform on your own and at your own responsibility. As soon as from the second year of your apprenticeship onward, you will already be of great help to the team.
Your specific tasks include:
- Training in metal and mechanical engineering for practical use in the manufacturing process in the event of maintenance jobs, malfunctions, and rebuilds
- Processing and machining of metals into components in the course of repair and maintenance jobs on production machinery
- Machining of various ferrous and non-ferrous metals with hand tools and CNC (computerized numerical control) machines
- Familiarizing yourself with various metal processing techniques such as forging, welding, soldering, bending, filing, bonding, as well as machining methods

Following your basic training (approx. two months), you will be right in the middle of things. You will accompany your colleagues to machines in the production halls, repair machine parts, and work on components that cause problems in production and need to be fixed. In the beginning, you will have to do a lot of watching, asking questions, and trying things out.How large is the team?
The team includes nine fitters and four electricians.Will some of my colleagues be apprentices?
Usually not in the same team, but you will be working together with other apprentices on interdepartmental projects.Who are my trainers?

8. Apprenticeship to become a Process Technician
Become an allrounder on the production floor! You will plan tools and devices of production machines and systems, read work instructions and schedules, monitor systems and production processes, and frequently perform machine maintenance jobs.

What you learn at Teufelberger as an apprentice process technician
You will be trained for many activities on the production floor and for working on production machines. You will also get to know the quality assurance department and the metalworking shop, you will handle daily maintenance jobs such as changing filters, draining condensate, and emptying dust containers. In production planning, you will ready tools for our machines.
From the second year of your apprenticeship onward, you will be given the opportunity to come along to trade shows and independently conduct tours around the factory. Your work offers plenty of variety, no two days are the same. Depending on your interests and abilities, you will have the chance to work independently and be assigned special projects. Later on, you can also specialize in a certain area, depending on your skills and interests.
Your specific tasks include:
- Learning the entire production process, step by step: from the use of tools to the production systems and through to quality assurance
- Close cooperation with all departments involved in production processes: Maintenance, Production, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Logistics
