Applications and Markets
Functional light weight design with fiber composite materials gains more importance, not only in aeronautics industry and racing but also in automotive series production und various other industrial applications. Composite Materials are up to 25% lighter than Aluminium and around 60% lighter than traditional steel structures. The application of composite structures not only reduces weight but also improves the structural rigidity and stiffness as well as the corrosion resistance. Furthermore the reduced weight is cutting costs and increasing the environmental compatibility. The integral fabrication potential is reducing the number of components and thus lowering transaction costs.

Composite Braiding represents a resource-optimized technology and improves the total energy balance in the fabrication of composite parts. In combination with low temperature resin systems and curing steps out of the autoclave, energy is saved when compared to conventional composite fabrication methods (e.g. Prepreg). Based on the high level of automation and the moderate investment costs in mould and tool construction, annual series up to 20.000 parts can already be realized at lower costs than its metal pendants.
