Braided Safety Blue is the industry standard 16-strand climbing rope. Unlike other 16-strand climbing ropes, each of the strands in Braided Safety Blue is composed of tightly plied polyester fiber over fibrillated polyolefin fiber bundles. The additional step of plying the yarns in the strands results in a firmer, rounder, more durable strand – and a more durable, longer-lasting rope. Other 16-strand ropes skip this step, making them more susceptible to snagging and abrading, reducing their service life. This polyolefin is much softer and more pliable than monofilament polyolefin. For the end user, this means a lightweight rope that is extremely flexible, holds a knot better, and doesn’t develop a “memory”. Braided Safety Blue is treated with a special formula to enhance abrasion resistance knotability and grip.
